The company is merging the Saueressig Group's engineering division with the Olbrich and Polytype Converting brands. The three product brands will appear on the market with immediate effect with the new umbrella brand Matthews Engineering.
Based on more than 70 years of experience as a manufacturer of production machinery and equipment, Matthews Engineering offers advanced calendering and converting systems, rotary embossing and slitting cylinders, and manufacturing and production lines for web materials that meet the highest market demands. Markus Pennekamp, Executive Vice President Matthews Engineering, explains, "With this realignment, Matthews Engineering is able to provide the customer with a 'One Stop Solution'. From embossing rolls and engraving to calender systems and individual machine components, to customized production equipment. Our approach is to bring together the best of the brand worlds." The expanded portfolio is expected to benefit in particular the growing market for batteries and battery storage solutions (especially in the area of electric vehicles) and green energies. The combined capabilities will enable innovative solutions to provide an end-to-end solution for the production of dry electrode batteries and other energy solutions.
In order to best meet individual market and customer needs, Matthews Engineering is divided into four business units: "Energy Solutions", "Coating & Converting", "Surfaces Solutions" and "Rollers & After Sales Service".
The Energy Solutions business unit supports its customers with comprehensive process know-how from the idea to the customized solution. These include both the planning and construction of prototype, pilot and series production lines for fuel cell components and the use of wet and dry electrodes in the manufacture and reprocessing of batteries.
In the Coating and Converting segment, complete production lines as well as stand-alone systems for coating, laminating, embossing, perforating and calendering of web materials are developed. These are used in the packaging, paper, label and film industries as well as for technical textiles and in the pharmaceutical industry.
The experts in the Surface Solutions division produce high-quality rotary tools such as gravure and embossing cylinders as well as calender rolls and nickel screens for the decor, tissue, plastics, metal, and nonwoven industries. In addition, the comprehensive know-how is used in surface design, especially in the decor sector as well as in the automotive, leather or furniture industries.
The Rollers division focuses on customer-specific and individual requirements according to which rolls can be heat treated, turned, ground, polished, structured or coated. In this context, the qualified specialists of After Service Sales not only take over the assembly, installation and commissioning of the machines, but also the preventive maintenance of equipment, identify and replace spare parts subject to wear and tear, and supply spare parts if required.
Matthews Engineering's mission is to support its customers in the production of renewable energy and recyclable raw materials to enable the path to a more sustainable world. With technical expertise and many years of experience in the energy and converting industry, Saueressig, Olbrich and Polytype Converting want to pursue joint goals together with the customer in all process steps: Thinking together, acting goal-oriented and setting new standards with innovative solutions.
